Advice for Emerging Leaders

These past few weeks, Lisa focused on the power of mentoring and coaching as she spoke with FBLA, Veteran Women’s Enterprise Center, and her D CEO EWLN mentees.

Because she values having a mentor and coach, as one, she reconnected with one mentor each week and fellow coaches. Who are you purposely reconnecting with who supports your dreams and goals?

Here is some advice Lisa shared with the groups that may spark ideas for you:

Be curious, invest in relationships, and always keep learning. Leadership isn’t about knowing everything—it’s about listening, asking questions, and growing alongside others.

Practice gratitude, continuous learning, and surrounding yourself with people who challenge and inspire you to keep motivated. Staying true to your values will help you push through challenges and keep making an impact.

Networking is all about relationships. Whether you’re at a business meeting or mentoring students, focus on listening, finding common ground, and being genuinely curious about people’s journeys.

A lot of people think networking is just about asking for help, but it’s actually about building connections over time. The best networking happens when you bring value, stay engaged, and support others first.
