What Do You Need to Do Your Best?

Poem of my comments from the May 2nd panel discussion with Anita B.org Dallas chapter on Leading Across Generations: The Gen Z shift
In a workplace of many, Gen Z through Boomers too,
We each bring a story, a lens, and a view.
We’ve learned in our seasons, our chapters, our turns,
And the magic begins when we share what we’ve learned.
So we Listen with heart, not to judge but to see,
We Learn from each voice: “you teach, I’ll teach me.”
Then we Lead with TLC transparent and kind,
For caring is strength, not a burden we mind.
Across generations, the secret is clear:
Not louder directions, but questions we hear.
Not “Here’s what to do,” from a tower above,
But coaching that’s rooted in trust, care, and love.
Ask, “What support helps you?”
Ask, “What strengths should we spark?”
Ask, “What’s getting in your way?”
Ask, “Where would you start?”
And my favorite one, simple, yet guiding the quest:
“What do you need to do your best?”
For when leaders ask questions, not tell from the start,
We build cultures of courage and lead with our heart.
And each generation, yes, every last one,
Feels valued, included, and part of the fun.
So here’s to the future, where all voices blend,
Where we coach one another, colleague and friend.
If we Listen and Learn, then Lead with TLC,
We’ll unlock the best work in you and in me.

I enjoyed catching up with Cynt Marshall at the TXCPA Dallas Convergence on April 24th.
Last Chance to Book Your #CoachingforCauses Session!
With a donation of $75 or more, you’ll receive a complimentary one-on-one coaching session with me. I’ve set aside a limited number of sessions for May, and they tend to fill up quickly!
I’m proud to be coaching in support of Blood Cancer United, (formerly The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society), an organization doing critical work that touches so many lives, directly and indirectly. The opportunity to contribute to a future without blood cancer, through research and innovation, is one I take seriously.
Through Coaching for Causes, certified coaches donate their time each May to offer professional coaching sessions ranging from executive and leadership coaching to wellness, life transitions, and more. In exchange, clients make a donation, and 100% of those funds go directly to the nonprofit.
If you’ve been considering coaching, or simply want to be part of something that creates real impact, this is a meaningful way to do both.
I would be honored to work with you while also supporting a cause that matters deeply.
